Originally released on cassette in 1998. Remastered for net release.
In 1998, I started reworking some old 4-track recordings that had been collecting dust, having gone unreleased through my home-run recording label Vuzh Music. These recordings are a collection of material from several projects that were either never completed, temporarily shelved, or simply abandoned for whatever reason. Some tracks were oddballs that didn't fit in thematically or musically with anything I had planned to release.
The original recordings were cleaned up, restructured, modified, re-arranged, chopped and altered on digital 8-track, with 4 new tracks of effects or new instrumentation added. The result is a very eclectic, yet flowing collection of dark rhythmic sound experiments which goes from strange, electronic dance music, to thick, very tense ambient-noise works, to percussive, imaginary improvisation to quaint, simple acoustic guitar pieces.
Includes collaborations with Eyelight, Kirchenkampf, Ian C. Stewart, and C. Hodges.

REVIEWS:
"Another stimulating effort from the enigmatic C. Reider. This one's more rhythm oriented than other work I've heard recently, but no less compelling. Reider is a master of mood who paints with a rich and darkly hued pallette. Abandon is not party music, nor are these chill-out grooves. It's a subliminal pulse of unease, better suited for solitary perturbment than any social situation. Lock the doors, turn down the lights and prepare to get creeped in a subtle way."

"C. Reider has recorded an absolutely beautiful and rich album with Abandon. I would go so far as to say that it is a genuine indie-ground ambient classic, in fact. As with most ambient recordings, the track listings quickly become obsolete as each one begins to melt into the other. The question becomes, how smoothly do they melt? Abandon melts quite smoothly. Something that stands out to me about Abandon is that there are times in the recording where actual emotion is captured (which is a rarity amongst ambient albums). More organic sounds and instruments are mixed in with the electronics, and guests appear throughout, only adding to the rich textures. Highly recommended."

Chris is an inventor of sounds, and this early collection of his home made recordings is one of my favorites.
